It is the Holy Forefathers "Greek" (Eastern Roman Byzantine) Orthodox Church, belongs to the Jerusalem Orthodox Patriarchal Chair. The Church, with around 10,000 congregation members, is in the Shepherds Field' town of Beit Sahour, east of Bethlehem, in the occupied West Bank, State of Palestine.
The Church building was constructed under the auspices of the Jerusalem Patriarch Gerasmos in 1895 AD. In early 1940 AD, an earthquake hit the region and led to the destruction of the building, which was then rebuilt in 1952 AD at the time of the Patriarch Timothy I.
